The parkas were originally made with a nylon outer shell and lining and a wool interlining. The interlining was changed to polyester batting in the 1970s. The long, sage green jackets became known as the “Snorkel Parka” because the fur-trimmed hood could be zipped right up leaving only a small tunnel for the wearer to look out of. The modern N-3Bs have slant pockets at the chest and flap pockets lower on the coat, and a panel that fastens with loops across the zipper to keep out wind. HOW TO MEASURE SLEEVE LENGTH With arm relaxed at your side, measure from center back neck, to point of shoulder, and along the arm to the wrist (just below round bone). CHEST Measure around body with tape leveled on the fullest part of your chest. WAIST Measure around your waist with the tape leveled at the narrowest point of your torso. HIP Stand with heels 2 to 3” apart. Keep the tape leveled and measure around the fullest part of your hips.
